Hollie Barlow vs Kanji Once Again Set For True Grit Wrestling's Last Rites in Leeds
True Grit Wrestling's Last Rites is finally happening! The Leeds-based promotion, which has been running shows out of West Yorkshire since establishing itself as one of the north's most consistent independent outfits, had to push the event back earlier in the year however the wait is nearly over, and the card they have put together makes it more than worth it. After having to reschedule their Last Rites show earlier in the year, True Grit Wrestling are finally going to be able to run it on Friday October 16th in the Left Bank, Leeds at 7pm!
With shows being rescheduled matches can sometimes be up in the air but fear not as Kanji will still be taking on Hollie Barlow in what should be a brilliant second-time-ever encounter!
Their first meeting came at Progress Chapter 194: Super Strong Style 16 on 3 May 2026, at the Electric Ballroom in London. The match was a quarter-final in the Women's Super Strong Style tournament, and Kanji came out on top to advance to the semi-finals. It was a re-coming out party for Barlow and the rematch is now re-confirmed for Leeds!
Nottingham's own Kanji (which she proudly represents everywhere she goes) has been one of the standout performers on the British independent scene since debuting in December 2017. She brings a technical, submission-heavy style that draws frequent comparisons to Zack Sabre Jr and has picked up a dedicated following for the quality of her in-ring work across the UK and beyond. She is a two-time Progress World Women's Champion and, as of 29 August 2026, the current RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion and Riot Caberet Women's Champion (as of writing at least as she defends the title against Rhio tonight). Walking into Last Rites, Kanji is arguably at the peak of her career so far, carrying championship gold and momentum from one of the biggest wins of her career at RevPro's Anniversary show however Hollie Barlow is trained at the FutureShock Academy so she obviously has my vote to win!
Barlow has the sort of underdog-against-the-world approach that gets crowds on their feet. She is perhaps best known right now as one half of LALLIE alongside Lana Austin, a partnership that has seen the pair pick up the TNT Women's Tag Championships, co-reigning as the Infinite Women's champion together and holding the EVE Tag Team Championships before dropping it to French Art just a few months ago! On her own though she is the current Futureshock Womens Champion having reigned for 478 days and counting so she has that singles experience!
The rest of the Last Rites card shapes up to be a very good show too! Ian Skinner will take on Judas Grey in a sponsored match, and the headline grudge match of the evening will be Wesley Nsereko settling his feud with TGW owner James Carr... in a coffin match!
The poster also features some other huge Britwres names such as Lana Austin, Alexxis Falcon, Vusyk & Franco Fate so the evening should be very good!
True Grit runs decently regular shows at venues across Yorkshire and streams its content on Triller TV+, making this one of the region's most accessible promotions for fans who can't always make it in person. But for Last Rites, being in the room is going to make a difference.
