MJF Confronts Ryohei Oiwa at NJPW Road to King of Wrestling 2026. Claims To Be The True Master of the Headlock and Will Win With a Headlock Takeover!
Because I quite like having a website and don't want the SUVs pulling up on me please enjoy this NJPWWorld Tweet for any visual demonstrations:
MJF, the former 3 time AEW World Champion and current holder of the "Real World Title", appeared on screen after Oiwa's match teaming with Zack Sabre Jr defeating Ares & his King of Pro-Wrestling opponent/IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji at the Road to KOPW Night 2 event! "The Grip" Ryohei Oiwa is this year's G1 Climax winner defeating Yuta Uemura with a Headlock in the finals and choosing to cash his opportunity in at King of Pro-Wrestling as opposed to the tradition which has been eased away from for a while now of cashing in at Wrestle Kingdom! Perhaps this is the plan for New Japan's show of shows or maybe we just needed a big time Forbidden Door main event! 🤷♂️
Either way for someone who allegedly doesn't watch NJPW (unless Great O Khan is competing) MJF has made a stellar choice of opponent to challenge given Oiwa's popularity and the possibility it will be for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship!
This would not be the first time MJF has won with a Headlock Takeover either as he defeated Darby Allin at Full Gear in November of 2021 however he has also fallen short to the power of a Headlock Takeover as Darby defeated him for the AEW Championship at Spring Breakthru in recent memory!
No matter where or when this match happens I for one am very excited to see which way it goes! You have the hot new thing in Ryohei Oiwa trying to Grip MJF's star power and MJF presumably weaseling his way out many a time!
As always,
Stay Ramblin'
